Rearcross U-12's recorded a two nil away win against Borrisokane on Sat, the home team dominating proceedings for opening ten minutes as Rearcross struggled to get any foothold on the game. Thankfully our defence held up and restricted Borrisokane to only half chances. Rearcross started to take control of the game after this period of play and were rewarded after 15 minutes when Cillian Kennedy struck a goal from just outside the box leaving the Borrisokane keeper with no chance. On the 20th minute mark Sean Malone was penalised for handling the ball inside the box and a penalty was awarded to the home team. A fine struck penalty but great heroics from Colm Lenihan to get his finger tips to the shot and deflect the ball off the left hand Post to leave the scoreline 1 nil. Rearcross dominated for the rest of the half and went in at half time with a well deserved 1 nil lead. Borrisokane took hold of the game again for the 1st ten minutes of the 2nd half but a great display from Aileen Rochford in defence kept the home team at bay. Colm Lenihan also made a couple of good clearances during this period. Again Rearcross took over and were rewarded after 18 minutes when a goal mouth struggle resulted in Cian O'Toole hitting a low shot to put Rearcross ahead by 2 nil. Rearcross dominated for the rest of the game with Cillian Kennedy & Cian O'Toole putting in a great display in midfield to leave Rearcross fully deserving of their 2 nil win.
